Vow Ready FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Every Vow Ready wedding dress is an authentic designer gown, $300–$1,500, in sizes 2–28, that you can take home the same day. Here's everything else brides ask before they visit our Kansas City and St. Louis stores.
General
What is Vow Ready?
Vow Ready is an off-the-rack bridal shop where every wedding dress is an authentic designer gown priced $300–$1,500 that you can take home the same day. We have two stores: North Kansas City (open now) and St. Louis in Lafayette Square (opens November 2, 2026). Walk-ins are welcome and appointments are recommended. We're from the team behind Savvy Bridal, and we built Vow Ready for brides who don't want a months-long wait for their dress.
What does off-the-rack mean?
Off-the-rack means the dress you try on is the dress you buy and take home that day. There is no special order and no four-to-seven-month production wait. Find it, say yes, and it leaves the store with you.
Are Vow Ready dresses new or used?
No gown on our racks has ever been worn to a wedding. Every dress is a designer sample, designer overstock, or a consigned gown that was never worn or altered. Samples have been tried on in store, so some show light try-on wear, and every gown is inspected before it goes on the rack.
Are these real designer wedding dresses?
Yes. Every gown is an authentic dress from an established bridal designer, not a copy or a "designer-inspired" style. Inventory changes constantly, so the exact designers on the rack change week to week.
Where are Vow Ready's stores?
Vow Ready Kansas City is at 1535 Swift St., North Kansas City, MO 64116. Vow Ready St. Louis is at 1800 Lafayette Ave., St. Louis, MO 63104, in Lafayette Square, and opens November 2, 2026 with appointments starting that week.
What are your hours?
Both stores keep the same hours: Monday and Tuesday 12–6 PM, Thursday 12–5 PM, Friday 9 AM–6 PM, Saturday 10 AM–7 PM. Both are closed Wednesday and Sunday. Last try-on is one hour before close.
Appointments & Walk-Ins
Do I need an appointment?
No, walk-ins are welcome during business hours. An appointment guarantees you a dedicated stylist and fitting room at a set time, so we recommend one. Walk in and you add your name at the kiosk; we text you when your stylist is ready, and appointments are served first.
How do walk-ins work?
Walk-ins are first come, first served after booked appointments. When you arrive, add your name at the kiosk and we'll text you when a stylist is ready for you. We ask that brides trying on gowns are actively shopping for their wedding dress, so every gown stays in good condition.
How long is an appointment?
Each appointment is one hour. For most brides, that's enough time to try a range of styles and say yes.
How do I book an appointment?
Book online any time. Kansas City: vowready.com/book/kansas-city/. St. Louis: vowready.com/book/st-louis/. Pick a time and you'll get a confirmation by email.
Is there a charge for an appointment?
No. Appointments at Vow Ready are free.
How many guests can I bring?
You can bring up to four adult guests. That keeps the appointment focused and fits the size of our fitting areas. If you have a special situation, call your store and we'll do our best to make it work.
Can I bring children?
Please leave young children at home. Appointments run an hour or more, and a distracted room makes it harder for you, and the brides around you, to focus on finding the gown.
What should I bring to my appointment?
Wear underwear, ideally nude; a strapless bra or pasties is optional, since many gowns look best without straps showing. Shapewear is optional. Bring shoes near your wedding-day heel height if you have them, and bring the people helping you decide: every gown is one of a kind, and it may be gone if you come back later.
What if I'm late or need to cancel?
We hold appointments for 15 minutes; after that, the time goes to the next bride. If you can't make it, cancel with the link in your confirmation email, or contact your store, so another bride can take your time.
Can I come in right before closing?
Last try-on is one hour before close. If fitting rooms are full or brides are already waiting near that time, we may not be able to fit you in that evening, and we'll ask you to come back another day.
When should I start shopping for my wedding dress?
Whenever you're ready. Because every gown is off-the-rack, some brides shop a year ahead and some shop a few weeks out. Leave yourself time for alterations: most brides start fittings 8–12 weeks before the wedding.
Prices & Payment
How much do Vow Ready wedding dresses cost?
Every wedding dress at Vow Ready is $300–$1,500. Most gowns are priced between $600 and $1,500, and the price is on the tag.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept all major credit cards and cash.
Do I have to pay in full?
Yes. Off-the-rack gowns are paid in full at purchase, and you take the dress home that day.
Do you offer payment plans?
No. We don't offer payment plans.
Do you offer discounts or price matching?
No. Our gowns are already priced well below traditional bridal retail, so we don't offer additional discounts or price matching.
Can I put a dress on hold?
No. We don't hold dresses. Every gown is one of a kind and sold first come, first served, so if you love it, the way to keep it is to buy it.
What is your return policy?
All sales are final. Gowns, veils and accessories can't be returned, refunded or exchanged, and they're sold as-is, so you buy the exact gown you tried on and inspected in the store.
Shopping
What sizes do you carry?
We carry gowns in sizes 2–28 at both stores.
Do you carry curvy and plus-size wedding dresses?
Yes. Our curvy selection runs from size 16 to 28, at both stores.
Can I pull dresses off the rack myself?
You're welcome to browse and touch every dress, but please leave gowns on the racks. Your stylist moves your picks to the fitting room for you.
Can I take pictures during my appointment?
Yes. Photos and short videos are encouraged, so you can remember your favorites.
Do you sell veils and accessories?
Yes. We carry veils, gloves, add-on sleeves and detachable skirts, and your stylist will help you finish the look. Accessories change daily.
My wedding is two months away. Is that too late?
No. Every gown is ready to take home, so there's no production wait. Buy the dress, book your seamstress the same week, and you're on track. If you're inside six weeks, ask your seamstress about rush service.
How do I know I've found the one?
There's no single sign. Some brides cry and some don't. If you can picture yourself getting married in it and it checks your boxes, that's the one.
Alterations
Do you offer alterations in-house?
No. Vow Ready doesn't alter gowns. Your stylist will hand you our referral list of independent bridal seamstresses, and because your dress goes home with you today, you can book your first fitting right away.
How much do alterations cost, and when should I start?
Most brides spend $300–$800 with an independent seamstress; heavier changes like reshaping a bodice or adding sleeves can run $1,000 or more. Plan on about three fittings, starting 8–12 weeks before your wedding. Short on time? Many seamstresses offer rush work in 2–4 weeks for an added fee, so call the day you buy.
Which seamstresses do you recommend?
These are the independent seamstresses on our referral lists. Call them directly for pricing and availability.

Can I buy a dress that's too big?
Usually, yes. A skilled bridal seamstress can typically take a gown in two to three sizes while keeping its design intact. Your stylist will tell you honestly whether a dress is a good candidate.
What should I bring to my first fitting?
Your wedding shoes and the undergarments you'll wear on the day, so the hem and fit are set to your real wedding-day look.
Cleaning, Care & Consignment
Do you clean dresses before purchase?
Every gown is inspected before it goes home with you, but it isn't professionally cleaned. Light try-on wear is normal, so we recommend a professional cleaning after alterations and before your wedding.
Do you offer cleaning and preservation?
Yes, at both stores. Gown cleaning packages start at $309, with deluxe and couture preservation options. See cleaning and preservation for every package and price.
How should I store my gown before the wedding?
Keep it in its breathable garment bag, hung in a cool, dry place. Take it out to air a few days before the wedding and use a handheld steamer for finishing touches.
Can I sell or consign my wedding dress at Vow Ready?
Yes. We accept unworn, unaltered wedding dresses, wherever you bought them, for consignment. Start with the form on our consignment page.

Yes. Both stores are on the street-level ground floor. If you need assistance or an accommodation, call ahead and we'll be ready for you.
